The best superfoods for weight loss. It is a fact of life that when you get to a certain age you start to gain weight unless of course you are blessed genetically.
The answer to this problem is simple you just have to eat less and move more.
The good news is that if you are a food lover then you don’t really have to eat less if you’re eating the right, healthy foods. You see I’m not a big fan of going on diets.
Diets tend to be punishment for your body and they may work for a short while but you run onto old habits when the diet ends and they do end because they are just not sustainable.
It is just not realistic to eat boiled chicken each day with a spoonful of rice.
Of course, diets do have their place if you have been put on one for medical reasons but if you have a sensible healthy eating plan with exercise built into your routine you have a much better chance of achieving your target weight and living a healthy lifestyle.
Because at the end of the day healthy living is a lifestyle choice and that is why the majority of diets even though they may yield results initially often result in the gaining back some if not all of the weight loss because there is no lifestyle change and you still have your old habits that you fall back into.
But before we get too far in a quick disclaimer

You have probably heard the saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”
But can apples help to achieve a healthy weight and keep the pounds away? Absolutely
Apples contain non-digestible compounds that promote the growth of good bacteria in your gut associated with weight loss.
These fiber and polyphenols compounds undergo a fermentation process where they become friendly bacteria.
Friendly bacteria help to balance the bad bacteria that love to feed on any junk food that you eat.
A great side effect of eating apples is that they provide a feeling of fullness that helps you stop the unhealthy snacking.

Whole eggs are among the best foods you can eat if you are looking for healthy weight loss.
They’re high in protein, contain healthy fats, and can help make you feel full while being low in calories.
But wait aren’t eggs full of cholesterol?
it is true that a medium-sized whole egg contains 186 mg of cholesterol, which is 62% of the recommended daily intake.
But when you eat more foods high in cholesterol your liver produces less cholesterol.
Cholesterol is a substance found naturally in the blood and is essential for maintaining good health and wellbeing and only becomes a problem when the level in your blood rises too high.
If you are fit, healthy and reasonably active then eating whole eggs will not change your cholesterol levels because your liver just produces less and everything just balances out naturally.
However, raised cholesterol can be a common problem and a risk factor in the development of heart disease but this is not caused by eating cholesterol-rich foods.
The bottom line is if you are fit and healthy then there really is no problem eating whole eggs.

Eggs are a great source of protein
Whole eggs are a great source of protein.
There is 7.5g of protein in a medium egg with around half being found in the egg white. A whole egg also contains 5,1g of fat and 1.4g of saturated fat.
The white of the egg contains lower levels of fat and cholesterol than the yolk so although the egg is a great food for weight loss they can be made even better if you just eat the egg white.
Vitamins B2, D, B6, A, E, K, and B12 can be found in eggs along with selenium and lecithin.
Eggs are great scrambled, poached, boiled and can aid healthy weight loss as part of a healthy eating plan especially if you eat just the white of the egg in something like an egg white omelette then you have a very healthy low calorie option
Omelettes are very easy to cook and you can incorporate lots of other nutritional foods into an omelette.

One way that I like to incorporate them is when I’m short on time. I simply grab 1/3 of a cup of oats, a small handful of pumpkin seeds and a scoop of chocolate protein powder and blitz them with my NutriBullet all into a healthy drink that I can take with me when I’m rushing out the door and on the move.
Oatmeal, when eaten as part of any healthy eating plan, is definitely one of the best superfoods for weight loss.

A banana is a great way to boost energy You often see athletes snacking on bananas particularly Tennis players between games.

However when you eat any of these foods above particularly the fruits and vegetables they make you fuller for longer meaning you do eat less.
The other huge benefit is that you are not eating dead calories so they actually help fuel your body meaning you’re more awake, more active and more likely to exercise or just go for a walk.
And movement, as we know, burns calories. Just by being more alert and awake because you have more energy burns calories.

Should I try to drink its juice also? Its really interesting to me the way some superfoods can change your whole life.
You can blitz it and make a wheat grass type drink, you can then add juices to make it sweet etc etc. There are lots of smoothie type drinks you can make, the nutribullet comes with a recipe book full of them.

Most fresh fruits and veggies are great for weight loss since they are rich in fiber and low in calories. Though fruits should be limited because of the sugar content.
The claims about cholesterol are somewhat true, but one should still make sure not to consume it excessively. Eggs can be a good choice 2-3 times per week.

The best foods are always whole foods! That’s usually foods that you can pick or get from the ground and are as close to their natural state. They don’t have a ton of ingredients on their packaging.
It’s always good to look at what you enjoy eating and find ways to make it healthy. For example, less fried foods and more baked foods or whole grain and wheat bread instead of white bread.
In the end it’s all about small changes overtime instead of big changes which are almost impossible to sustain.
